On June 20th, this song was ready to be recorded in “The Attic,” our Chicago rehearsal spot. Dan tracked drums and Mateo did the programming and guitar parts. On June 21st, Matthew and Nathan recorded the chorus vocals in our rehearsal spot in Chicago. June 26th, Matthew recorded his bass parts. Later that night, Matthew was unconscious in the hospital, looking like we were losing him. Fast forward to now… We got the song mixed and mastered and here it is…. today is the day i begin functioning in the real world. thankfully my motor skill casualties don’t include typing! i do have a kick ass face debility that i actually enjoy.
i’d like to open with a bottomless mug of gratitude and love to you guys. you’ve been so incredible with your patience and the vibes you sent to the operating room were lifesavers. despite the rehabilitation stuff and doctor’s appts etc etc…we want to move right passed this event and re-kindlle full on ML, completing
Dresden and WW3.
powerful stuff on there. i have so much to say, and i will soon, but i couldn’t wait another day to thank you guys and let you know we are back in motion.

heyyoo !
just wanted to check in with you guys.. we’ve been on a mission to get things back to “normal” for weeks.  pushing ahead with Madina while whipping Matthew back into shape.  Unfortunately he ended up back in the ER yesterday with a ruptured wisdom tooth.  These are the types of things we’re going to be dealing with for the next year..  Injuries of this magnitude do all kinds of things to the body and one of them was shaking loose a wisdom tooth and having his immune system fighting so many things, it’s bound to fail from time to time.  However, we’re getting through it and are ecstatic of the notion that just maybe one day things will be back to normal.
The alleged suspect has been formally charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery Causing Serious Bodily Harm and Aggravated Battery in a Public Place.  More on that in time but focusing on the positive ..The “Through The Pain” benefit shows start tonight.  It’s a grandiose display of Chicago’s integrity, loyalty, compassion and strength and we’re so effing lucky to have such amazing people in our lives.  After these shows we’re going to be releasing a new song from our forthcoming record “Word War III”.  We’d been demoing tracks for the record and Matthew recorded bass on this song the day before the incident.  He was the last to record on it which is kind of strange because lately we’ve been tracking guitar and vox first, drums & bass last..  lyrically, the song is oddly premonicious (which is a word i think i just made up lol)..  anyhow, we’re very proud of it and can’t wait to share..  details of it’s release will be determined this week so stay tuned..
as always, thank you again for everything..  we’re putting madina back together and the EP and WW3 are just around the corner which will begin a brand new chapter in our lives, band and perspective.  There’s an old adage I try to live by which says  “you are who you are and where you are because of the dominating thoughts that you allow to occupy  your mind” .. so let them be positive, optimistic and inspiring thoughts..  crush the rest of em..

good afternoon discobiscuits…

i’m writing this from the lovely seaside town of Poole, England. It’s been a pretty crazy trip so far. I’d say that it’s amazing because it is. However without Matthew it’s got a bit of a hollow feel to it. We flew the day after the Pumpkins benefit (again, i’d say best night of my life, but without matthew it had a bit of a hollow feel to it seeing as SP are both of ours favorite band of all time). I got to accept a plaque from the governor of Illinois proclaiming that day officially as “Matthew Leone Day” (ugh why couldn’t we be from california! skert) as well I got to join the Pumpkins for the last song which was “1979”.. magical and surreal (ehhh and a bit hollow). I also delivered a tiny little speech on stage thanking everybody for their incredible generosity, during which I got a little emo and choked up lol. eh, ya can’t win em all. sooo naturally, just as anyone else would do :/ I shaved my head and headed off to England.

It’s been a whirlwind and the flight over here was the first time I was forced to do nothing but think. my favorite thing in the world to do.. except not even a little. I meant to sleep the whole flight cuz I haven’t slept in 6 weeks but my eyes were wide open. In the chaos surrounding Matthew’s incident I’m constantly haunted by the things i’ve seen and experienced throughout it. As wonderful as everybody has been, as amazing as all these events, contributions, etc are, I can not and doubt ever will be able to stop thinking about what happened to my brother. I get furious, paniced, thankful, remorseful, regretful, grateful and essentially tortured with those thoughts. I need him back.. i need 100% of him back. That’s made this trip extra difficult (and maybe perhaps a bit hollow? skeert) because I’m not with him.
