The Disappearance of Adalia
May 29th, 1951

Local socialite Adalia, was reported missing at the early hours of Sunday morning.

She was last seen Saturday evening at the annual Arlene Ball.
Friends and family say that her behavior leading to her disappearance was “bizarre and unusual.”

“It was almost like she knew something that she wasn’t supposed to know, and it was only a matter of time before that knowledge would get her in trouble.”
In her public life, Adalia was best known for her unrelenting beauty and inimitable charm,

But in her private life, she was a much different character. A search of Adalia’s attic apartment revealed a host of secret letters she had written and received from an unknown source.

The contents of the correspondences are unknown, as they seem to be written in code and using a variety of aliases. The clues may unveil a fascinating bombshell, although, the challenge for investigators is to decipher the text, that was presumably used to conceal the identities of those with whom she corresponded.

October 19, 1951

That’s just the thing about Madina Lake.

Everyone wants to be famous.

We all want to feel that our existance in this world is louder than anyone elses.

The new souls trample each other in a quest to maintain their social status.

Meanwhile the old souls lurk in the shadows, waiting for their opportunity to……..

.make a change.

Adalia’s disappearance has shaken this town to its core.

lord of the flies? 7

May25

okay, so i’m not very much of a detective, but i’m really eager to help figure out some part in the ‘attics’ portion of the story, if that’s okay!
anways, i’m not sure if it’s just the late hour, or if i’m really on to something here, but it seems to me that the novel ‘lord of the flies’ by william golding could quite possibly tie into the story.
what i mean by this is i’ve found a few similarities between themes/plot in that novel and the story line of madina lake.
first of all, the main theme in lord of the flies is something along the lines of ‘it’s the people that corrupt the society, not the government or authority.’ (i’ll double check with the notes in the back) i was reading the latest post about the river people lyrics, which is when this whole connection dawned on me.
also, that book was written in the mid 1950′s, right about the time that the town of madina lake is set in. it takes place on an island, upon which the children are desperate to escape from. similarly, the town of madina lake is ‘isolated’ so they’ve said, and they’ve also mentioned that a major theme of attics is ESCAPISM. :) see the connection i’m talking about?

The River People 5

May17

I was flicking through the website and I noticed that no one had tried to write an explanation to the song river people. So I thought, I’m going to give it ago and share what I thought about it.

In an interview, it sounded like Matthew was implying that we, “the fans” are the river people,
I reckon that the citizens of Madina Lake were the “they” in this song, So I see the citizens as critics,or so obsessive that they sort of sucked life from their idols…
Maybe the river people are the victims in this song, maybe this is about society trying to mould us, take away our personalities so that we are all the same, So I thought that the song might be aimed at us?
“to be content is to be a disgrace”- media portrayal- is this about how media pressures us to look/act a certain way as if we shouldn’t be happy with ourselves but always aim higher?

They crawl in your head, they dig in your bones
If you let them they won’t let go
They have no hope, they have no soul
If you let them then they’ll take yours

I think that, They will “crawl in your head”- means that they try to convert you, “dig in your bones”- reshape you and plant their own ideas. they have no souls, because they’ve given in like everyone else. And now they want you to be just like them. – Like the auspice Adalia recieved, “they have no hope, they have no soul, if you let them then they’ll take yours” Maybe It’s a warning from the river people. To try and stop Adalia from getting lost, from “losing her identity” and being something that she’s not.

The four A’s… 1

May3

That’s one of the symbols on The Cyclic Cross of Hendaye, said to tell about the end of the world. I think it’s an alchemical symbol. If you google Fulcanelli or The Cross of Hendaye you should be able to find out a little more about it.
Fulcanelli was a mysterious alchemist.

BESIDES THAT.
1) an eight-rayed star-burst
2) an oddly shaped half moon/boat with an eye spot marking
3) an angry sun face with bulging spiral eyes, dumb-bell shaped mouth and prominent chin; the face is surrounded by 16 large spikes and 16 smaller spikes inside a containing outer circle. The sun circle itself is surrounded by four stars, placed in the corners of the rectangle and tilted so that their diagonal axis continues through the center point of the sun face, and
4) an oval that fills the entire space of the rectangle and contains a cross with four A’s in it.
The A’s are unusual, having a sharply angled cross bar nestled in the top angle of each A, rather than the usual horizontal cross bar.

please browse the website, because there are many other things too we discussed (east/west, earth/wind etc.)
