New post from Matthew on the forum:
caught somewhere in warped...
the wishes of ridiculous days go out to all from your family in mad lake.
i want to explain our take on the maiden track...
as you know we are a relatively unconventional band. we don't generally choose the paths paved by others. and neither do you folks, which is why we're all here together.
we approached the cover like this:
iron maiden is a band that blazed a trail for metal. they sold out arenas and stadiums for decades with no radio airplay at all. they took a genre and twisted it up into a ball and spit it back out and the genre never looked the same since. they curved the trajectory of metal ...not many can say that.
when we were asked to cover em, we wanted to pay homage to where metal is NOW, because of what they did 20 years ago. a "thank you" of sorts for all of the great bands and music that existed because of them. so we imagined our version to be a modernized metal version, with madina lake's character filling the spaces in between.
we hope those on the fence will warm up to it someday!
warped tour is an eye opener for us. with our RPI in full effect, we realized how many friends we've made over the past couple of years on the road...you all are giving us the confidence and strength to go make you all a killer record next month.
love you guys endlessly

MADINA MADNESS
Madina Lake is a band with a story to tell. Fronted by a pair of
twins, the money for the band's demo was raised after the twins won Fear Factor ,
a reality television show aired in the UK and the US, where they had to
hang monkey-style from helicopters and chow down on a bug sandwich or
three.
More than that, Madina Lake is a group with great, aggressive pop
sound and some heavy lyrics to match, as is evident in its latest album
From Them, Through Us, To You .
"I think music is something that connects people universally,
regardless of politics or religion or any other ridiculous aspect that
comes in and pollutes it," says lead-singer Nathan, explaining the
appeal behind the group's first CD. "I think people are the same
wherever you go; they go through the same triumphs and hardships and
loss and love and jealousy. I hope our music helps people understand
that they're not alone when they feel stuff like that: that there's a
lot of people out there going through it, too"
Pretty deep, indeed! But how much hardship could a singer from a successful touring band have gone through?
"My twin brother Matt and I lost our Mum in a car accident when we
were 12. I've also been carjacked at gun point. Bizzarre experiences,
but I think each one rounds you out as a person and maybe builds
character. I would never presume I have a well-built character, but I
think sometimes going through experiences and embracing negative things
in your life is a good idea," Nathan says.
With tours across the US and the UK, Madina Lake is rapidly
creating a name for itself as a quality live act; a group whose quality
lies beyong the record. It's also known for its on-stage antics and
audience involvement, which Nathan is quick to emphasise.
"I like to be a part of the crowd as much as possible so I tend to
jump into the crowd a lot. And sometimes there are things to climb up
on, and sometimes they're too high to be jumping on 12-year-old girls
from. I've hurt myself, I've hurt other people, I've broken cameras, I
gotta stop, I really do!"
Earlier this year, we got a taste of Madina madness when it toured
Australia as part of the Soundwave festival; it's an experience the
band is keen to repeat in the near future.
"People say when you die you go to heaven; I say when you die you
go to Australia! What I beg of the Australian kids is to please
continue to support us, so I can come back as soon as possible!"

MADINA LAKE
FROM FEAR TO CAREER
Astory written by bassist Matthew Leone coined the band’s name Madina Lake. It is a fictional 1950s town where Adalia, the famous socialite, mysteriously disappears. Like this town, Madina Lake is eating up its fans and dragging them to a mysterious musical world. Some of you might know that the Leone twins (vocalist Nathan and bassist Matthew) originally started this whole journey with a little pot of money they won on NBC's Fear Factor. After winning, Matthew told NBC, "We put rockers on the scoreboard against the meatheads." They were also smart enough to put their money where their mouths were. They used their winnings to make a demo, and eventually got themselves signed to Roadrunner Records. With the help of guitarist Mateo Camargo and drummer Dan Torelli, the band put out From Them, Through Us, To You in March of 2007, and won Best International Newcomer at the 2007 Kerrang! Awards. Flooding alternative radio stations, Madina Lake is quickly becoming a pop rock/emo/grunge favorite.
